thoughts may change but then again they tend to stay the same
way back when remember then how the ravens said be free
the phoenix wept while brothers slept and made them wake again
those far off mountains were my friends please bring them back to me
what trees are these I walk between and do they know I'm here
have they known me since by birth and did they watch me grow
wrap me in the night time please I can see the trail so clear
there are no shadows in the dark and I know which way to go

there is a place just up the hill where the sky has grown a moon
noises scatter in the black they let me pass as they step back
I am the unknown here I am what the darkness fears
born upon a stolen land a harmless child became a man

there are few havens in this town for wounded souls to go
wrap me in the wilderness where I know just what to fear
have they been here since my birth and can they feel the snow
what streets are these I walk along and do they know I'm here
those dormant ice fields were my friends please save them from the sea
the glaciers crept while hillsides slept and now they creep again
way back when remember then how the twilight called to me
desires may change but then again they tend to stay the same
